Adaptogens (including functional mushrooms) are plants and mushrooms that have been well studied to elicit powerful effects on your body's response to stress, anxiety, fatigue and overall wellbeing.

Adaptogens bring your body back to a steady balance by managing both physical and mental stressors. They do this through multiple pathways including reducing cortisol, modulating serotonin and increasing the body's response to GABA (the same molecule alcohol mimics).

Our Unwind Blend uses a combination of three complimentary adaptogens for a more pronounced effect.

Adaptogens are designed to take you to a natural state of relaxation: you at your calmest.

Different people are affected in different ways, with the majority experiencing mild relaxation, some experiencing a strong sense of relaxation and some not experiencing a perceptible effect.

If you feel a particularly strong effect then sit back and enjoy the ride. If you do not ‘feel’ anything at all, then that doesn’t mean it hasn’t worked- the studies have shown that people who have no subjective relaxation response can still perform better in tasks to measure objective stress levels.

You should start to feel an effect after 20 minutes, with a more pronounced effect after drinking 2-3. You will also get further benefits from drinking consistently over a period of weeks.

Yes. Functional mushrooms and the other adaptogens used in our formulation are legal and declared food safe. This classification indicates they are safe for consumption based on a history of common use in food and scientific research.

No. Collider is classed as ‘alcohol free’ in Europe. Your body metabolises the alcohol more quickly than it can build up in your bloodstream your blood alcohol level does not rise.

A piece of bread and a ripe banana contain more alcohol than a bottle or can of Collider.

There is nothing illegal about drinking Collider and driving. Your liver metabolises the alcohol present in the beer before it can move into the bloodstream, therefore your alcohol blood level does not rise.

The adaptogens themselves are not sedatives and therefore do not inhibit your ability to process information or affect your reaction times. There is currently no legislation prohibiting driving when consuming any of our adaptogens. Having said that, always use your own judgment.

Yes. All of our adaptogens are from natural sources, food safe and third-party tested for quality and safety. They are all found to be very well tolerated in human studies.

No. The dosage used means that there are no negative flavours imparted by the addition of our botanicals or functional mushrooms. They are there for effect only. Collider tastes just like a regular beer.

No. Lion's mane is not what is commonly referred to as a 'magic' mushroom. They do not have psychoactive properties and just promote feelings of calm and mental wellbeing.

Most people will get the maximum dose after 2-3 cans. After that you will be topping up your original dose. Unlike alcohol, where the effect will continue to become more pronounced with increase consumption.

The Big Bang Moment

Collider began with one simple collision — between our love for great beer and our need to feel better.

Our founder, Harry, spent years in the wine industry but somewhere along the way, he realised that drinking had stopped feeling good. What started as social became habitual; what once took the edge off began to dull everything else. His sleep, focus, and mental health all suffered. So he stopped.

But giving up alcohol came with its own void- the ritual, the taste, the moment of unwinding at the end of the day. That's where Collider was born: a non-alcoholic beer designed to relax you without the hangover or the compromise.

What started as an idea in a kitchen quickly became a movement. We sold out six months of stock in our first four weeks, won Best in Class (96 points) for our Session IPA at the London Beer Awards, and landed listings in some of the UK's most iconic venues, Dishoom, Hoxton Hotels, Planet Organic, and more.
